A lot of people ask me when I plan to settle down.. I suppose that’s a common expectation of a female in her mid to late twenties. But what is settling down?
When water settles, it stops moving. It becomes stagnant. Mosquitoes lay eggs and infect everyone with malaria. This is probably not the ideal outcome for our lives.
When an account is settled, the balances are paid and it is null. It no longer serves any use and is stored away, probably to never been seen again.
When a person settles.. they buy a house, get married, have children. They have ticked the boxes in their lives of what is expected of them, and relax as they count down the years to their retirement.
But is that really a way to live? Shouldn’t you always strive for more? Continue learning? Continue growing? Once you have ticked your existing boxes, shouldn’t you add more?
I don’t plan to ever settle. I may tick those above boxes in time, but I’ll not settle along the way.
We spoke of this a little bit in the most recent #SamosaSunday (our weekend tradition livestream every Sunday on YouTube at 10pm IST that I absolutely love), but I just wanted to really solidify the point and encourage everyone (if anyone lol) reading this to never settle, always keep learning, always keep growing, always work hard.
